Dawn arrives later here

One day you wake up and everything has changed. The place you fought for, the land where you raised your children is not the same. Even the sun doesn’t come out as it used to because of the surrounding buildings. Palo Alto was a sand mine where migrants from rural areas worked and lived in terrible conditions. When the owner decided to sell, 240 families fought to defend their land. They built one of the first housing cooperatives in Latin America in Mexico City, creating an equal-houses project with dignified conditions they had never dreamed of before.

Later, the surrounding neighborhoods turned into a luxurious place called Santa Fe. Real estate harassment made a complex reality for this common-owned land and their union collapsed because of the houses' pricing speculation.

This is an interactive project built as a living memory of this resistance territory. Its narrative doesn’t come from us as authors but is created by each person while navigating the illustrated map where around 55 photo series, short films and audios are hiding.
